     We only accept application forms dated October 2017 or later.

     You can find the date in the bottom left corner of the form.

     • For example, “CIT 0497 (06-2019)” means the version date is June 2019.
     • The date you sign or mail your form does not change the version date.

     If you submit your application with a form that’s older than October 2017

     • we’ll return your application
     • you’ll need to resubmit your application with the latest version of the form

     If you submitted your application with a form dated October 2017 or later, but we returned it as incomplete

     • get the missing information or document
     • resubmit your application with the same form (you don’t have to use the latest version)

This application is for a person who is and has always been stateless and was born outside Canada to a Canadian parent, and who wishes to acquire Canadian citizenship. Statelessness refers to the condition of an individual who is not recognized as a national by any state under its domestic law.
