Important Update for Student Visa Applicants from 1 January 2025
Onshore applicants must provide a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) at the time of application, as reported by the Department of Home Affairs will implement a significant change for individuals applying for a Student visa from within Australia.
This change applies to visa applications lodged on or after 1 January 2025. Applications submitted before this date using a Letter of Offer will not be affected.
Key Points for Applicants:
- Mandatory CoE Requirement:
- Failing to include a CoE at the time of application will render the application invalid.
- Visa decision-makers cannot assess invalid applications, and no associated Bridging visa can be granted for an invalid application.
- Alignment of Requirements:
- This adjustment ensures consistency between onshore and offshore Student visa requirements. Both will require a CoE to demonstrate commitment to a course of study in Australia.
- Impact on the International Education Sector:
- Requiring a CoE at the application stage reflects a stronger commitment from students to their chosen institution, providing increased certainty for Australia’s international education sector.
Ensure Student Visa Application Meets the Requirements:
Applicants are reminded to provide all relevant evidence to support their application. This includes using tools like the immi checklist tool to confirm the documentation required for their visa subclass. Thorough preparation will reduce the risk of submitting an incomplete or invalid application.
For further details or assistance with your application, consult your education provider or a registered migration agent to ensure compliance with the updated requirements.
