We’ve received a critical update from one of our partners regarding student visa applications for Brazilian nationals. Applicants who submitted their visa applications between October 2024 and now to a Level 3 education provider have been contacted by the Department and asked to provide:

  • Evidence of English proficiency, and
  • Proof of financial capacity covering the past 12 months,
  • all within 28 days of receiving the request.

In addition, we are seeing a significant increase in visa refusals for applicants with dependents or those applying with their whole families. These applications are being assessed more strictly, particularly around financial capacity and genuine temporary entrant (GTE) criteria

What you should do:

  • Agents and Colleges: Reassess all current and pending applications for Brazilian students, especially those with family members included.
  • Students: Double-check the evidentiary requirements based on your country’s updated level and your chosen education provider’s risk level.
  • Everyone: Be proactive and respond quickly — delays or missing documents can lead to refusals.

If you’re unsure about your status or evidentiary requirements, we strongly recommend reaching out to your migration or education advisor ASAP.

Stay informed. Stay compliant. Stay prepared.
